Nina Daniels, 47 is an artist who lives in leafy Altrincham, Cheshire with her son Lukas, 9. Nina founded her homeware business in 2020 producing tableware inspired by her Swedish upbringing and family traditions.
We began stocking Nina's tablewares in The Hive in 2021. Nina says she is honoured to have been chosen as one of “22 UK Businesses To Watch Out For in 2022” by Business Live.
"I was born in Sweden and grew up with wonderful family traditions, especially from my Mother who delightfully set the table for celebrations and insisted we enjoyed everyday mealtimes together as a family. Rituals I recognised in England when I moved here twenty five years ago to study in London and also the spark behind my homeware business NINA D."
Each design is meticulously hand illustrated and inspired by a place or a person close to Nina's heart back home in Sweden.
"My personal connection is represented in my art through colours and texture, often resulting in shapes and patterns. During my design degree, I made the decision to always create my art by hand using watercolour on carefully selected paper and I have not once tweaked my artwork with a computer. I discovered my passion in creating depth by layering to produce a striking two dimensional effect.
It was important to source high quality manufacturers in order to maintain the hand created details of my work. I also take great pride knowing that the materials and process used is sustainable."
NINA D first launched with a capsule collection of placemats and coasters, before producing the designs on Swedish birch trays. To complete the range, handmade table linen in matching colours was introduced.
"Our home is light and airy with wooden floors and furniture from our Stockholm apartment. It is accessorised with unusual pieces from my Russian grandparents such as an original tea samovar and the wooden Russian dolls. I live in leafy Cheshire with my son Lukas, who is nine years old."

The Hive by VH Interiors is a General Store & Beverage Bar located on the edge of Altrincham Town Centre.
We were voted "Business of the Year 2021" and "Hospitality Venue of the Year 2021" by the local community in the Altrincham and Sale chamber of commerce awards.
We are open 6 days a week (see our homepage for opening times) and we stock an eclectic mix of products in our General Store ranging from vintage homewares (vintage has a low carbon footprint) and eco friendly hardwares to natural apothecary and aromatherapy products.
The Beverage Bar serves espresso based hot and iced drinks using speciality coffee roasted by Two Brothers Coffee in Cheshire, we also have award winning Kokoa Hot Chocolate, real ice cream milkshakes and sweet treats available.
