Altrincham is a bustling market town filled with independent shops, great cafes and award winning restaurants. No doubt the beating heart of the town is Altrincham Market itself!

With great connections to local transport and the Greater Manchester area, it's a great place for a day out in the North West.

Markets and food halls are huge in Manchester, and Altrincham’s Market House has notably been a catalyst for the towns regeneration. It was such a success that Market Operations has since opened up a sister site in the heart of Manchester City Centre named Mackie Mayor and have a further sister site called the Picturedrome set to open in Macclesfield any day now. Altrincham Market has no doubt inspired many other towns such as Stockport to re-create their own version of the Market Hall too.

Altrincham Market is split into three sections:

  • New Market Square

  • Market House

  • Covered Market

We will start with the Covered Market since that's where we are based.

The covered market recently rebranded as

"The outdoor department store" and is bustling with independent businesses, like a conventional department store, it has been sectioned into the following categories:

  • Vintage

  • Flowers & Plants

  • Ceramics

  • Art & Photography

  • Womenswear

  • Menswear

  • Jewellery

  • Homewares

  • Health & Well-Being

  • Fresh Produce

  • Pet Shop

  • Hot Food & Drink

Market operations cheekily uses the tag line 'Like a market, only better!'

VH Interiors has been based at Altrincham Market since 2015 and continues to grow each year that passes.

With an ever changing mix of homewares, furniture and gifts, it's always worth visiting every week to find something new.

Here you will also find a hard working mix of traders that specialise in Homewares, Jewellery, Floristry, Ceramics, Clothing, Hot food & drink, Fresh groceries and much much more.

If you are planning a trip to the Outdoor Department Store, it's worth noting that the opening times for the covered market concessions are:

Tuesday - 10am-4pm

Thursday - 10am-3pm

Friday - 10am-4pm

Saturday - 9am-4pm

Sunday - 10am-4pm

Secondly there is The Market Hall itself, home to the following independents:

The concept is simple, order what ever dish takes your fancy from any of the venders, and take a seat on one of the long communal tables, then your food and drinks will arrive from one of the waiters so you can simply enjoy the company and food together.

Market House opening times are:

Tue-Sat - 9am-10pm

Sun - 9am-6pm

The third, and newest addition to Altrincham Market is New Market Square. Set lower down the market, sandwiched between Idaho shop and Everyman cinema.

New market Square has the same concept as the Market Hall in the sense that you can order your food and drinks from any of the independent pods and enjoy them in the communal seating area.

The choice of food on New Market Square comes from the likes of:

The Shack is a cosy little nook that serves fresh coffee and cakes inside a 'cabin' like setting with a wood log burner.

We particularly like the fact the vintage school black board, galvanised planters and other vintage industrial pieces were sourced by ourselves ;)

New Market Square opening times are:

Tue-Sun - 9am-4pm
